EVANGOLA HOLDS WINTER FESTIVAL
Even with not much snow, Winter Fest 2009 at Evangola State Park provided hours of family fun for the couple hundred people that attended the event over the course of the weekend of February 21-22.
The Farnham Fire Company won the Firefighters Rescue Competition that saw three teams perform a rescue in the icy waters of Lake Erie.
96 Kix FM out of Dunkirk broadcasted live from the park for the weekend and on air personality Shawna Szukala was on hand to present Kathy Kavanagh, from North Tonawanda with a prize of a Niagara Falls State Park getaway package.
While the
lack of snow didn’t allow for the popular snowman contest, an ice
sculpting
competition was held in its place.
Cliff Anderson of West Seneca won first place with his ice fish
carving.
He was awarded a $20.00 gift
certificate to Desperadoes Restaurant in the village of Angola.
